Ballarat Football Netball League is excited to announce its netball interleague coaches for 2017. BFNL take on arch-rivals Bendigo on May 13.
Anne McCartin has been appointed the Senior netball interleague coach while Talia Holloway-Roden and Georgia Carnn will co-coach the Under 17s squad.
McCartin is a big asset to the role after winning the BFNL netball coach of the year in 2015 and 2016. The coach of the year of each season will be given the opportunity to coach the Senior interleague team the following season.
AFL Goldfields Netball Manager Kim Bailey is excited with the appointment.
"We're really happy to have Annie on board from North City," Bailey says.
"She brings a wealth of netball knowledge and she is one of the most experienced coaches that we have (in the BFNL)"
Bailey is impressed by her communication with the players.
"The players want to play for her and that's what we (the BFNL) really want."
"She is the coaching doyen of our league at the moment."
Holloway-Roden and Cann have worked hard with the Under 17s and will lead the girls in Cairns this year where the squad plays Townsville and two Cairns teams.
The girls return to the Worksafe VCFL Country Championships this year after missing out in 2016.
The Senior football and Under 18s squad took on Western Region in 2016 and did not have a netball component to its league.
The BFNL played Bendigo in 2015. The Seniors had a good win while the Under 17s went down.
"Our 17s got a little bit of a touch up last time and I'm sure they'll bounce back this year with the extra time playing together," Bailey says.
"They'll be really strong this year."
The Seniors defeated Bendigo last time. The girls are hungry this year. The group will play also play in the Association Championships in June.
"We will put a good team together there and we will have a chance," Bailey says.
